History of Musselman Kaleidoscope
Before Kaleidoscope’s creation, Musselman High School’s Choir department consisted of a Sextet, Octet, and Musselman 12 who performed for churches and community events, as well as the Senior Chorus.
Musselman High School’s Kaleidoscope Show Choir was formed in 1982. The first group consisted of 20 females and 10 males chosen from the 114 member Senior Chorus. When asked about how she created the name Musselman High School Choral Director and Kaleidoscope founder Sherry Hager (director 1969-1990, 1996-2002) responded with “One day I looked through a kaleidoscope and I saw a display of beautiful colors and shapes which to me, represented different personalities!! They sang and danced to many genres of music, wore colorful costumes made by parents and performed every where”
In the years after 1982 and since her last year teaching at Musselman High School in 2002, Kaleidoscope was a popular group consisting of 20 females and 20 males on average, a live show choir band, and a booster club. Kaleidoscope traveled and competed in numerous WV State competitions, and many festivals in the U.S. and Canada.
